League Information
Thank you for your interest in the Chiang Mai Tennis League!
The latest league rankings can be found on this page of the website:

From this page you will also be able to see the other players in your division, and when you click on their name you will see their profile and their contact details.
Here's how the league works:
When does the league start and end?
This season of the league will start on the 1st of September 2025. Please play all your group matches by 30th November 2025.
Who do I play?
Please check which division of the league you are in. For example, D1-A, D1-B etc.
In the Group Stage please play every player in your division.
For example, if you are in division D1-A please play each player in D1-A. You do NOT need to play anyone in D1-B during the group stage.
What happens at the end of the Group Stage?
At the end of the group stage:
- Whoever is top of A will play whoever is second in B (Semi-Final).
- Whoever is top of B will play whoever is second in A (Semi-Final).
- The winners of the Semi-Finals will play the Final.
Where do I play?
It's up to you and your opponent to decide where you will play your match.
Who books the court?
It's up to you and your opponent to decide who will book the court for your match. We recommend booking the court for 2 hours.
Who pays for the court?
The court fees should be split 50/50 between you and your opponent unless you both agree otherwise.
Who provides the balls?
Both players must provide at least 3 new balls for each match, you can then decide together which balls you would like to use.
How do I arrange each match?
Please contact your opponent using the details listed on the website profile.
What is the match format?
The winner of each match is the first player to win 2 sets. If the score after 2 sets is 1 set each, then a 'super tie break' is played to decide the winner. A super tie break is the first to 10 points with a two-point margin (e.g. 10-8).
If both players agree prior to starting their match, then you also have the following extra options:
- Instead of playing a super tie break to decide the winner, you can play a regular tie break (first to 7 points).
- Instead of playing a super tie break to decide the winner, you can play a full third set.
- Instead of playing a match first to win 2 sets, you can play a "pro set" which is the first player to win 8 games. If the score is 7 games all, then a tie break can be played to decide the winner.
Please note that for option 2, the match loser will not gain any extra points for games won in the third set.
Please note that for option 3, the scoring system will remain the same, 15 points to the winner and 1 point to the loser for each game they won during the pro set.
If either one of the players does NOT agree to playing a different match format, then the standard match format must be used.
How do I submit the match result?
At the end of the match, the winner must take a selfie of both players then post the selfie in the Chiang Mai Tennis Facebook group and include the result in the caption.
The format for the caption is like this: League Result: [winner's name] vs [loser's name] - Score [Winner's scores first]
Example: If Kate played against John, and Kate won the first set 6-3, then lost the second set 1-6, then won the super tie break 10-8, the caption would be like this: League Result: Kate vs John - 6-3, 1-6, 10-8
How do the league points work?
- The winner of a match gets 15 points.
- The loser of a match gets 1 point for each game they win over the 2 sets.
- The super tie break doesn't give any points, it is just to decide the winner of the match if both players have won 1 set each.
How often will the league rankings be updated?
I'll try to update the league rankings within 24 hours of each new result being submitted.
What happens if my opponent doesn't show up?
If your opponent hasn't contacted you to cancel with at least 24 hours notice, and doesn't show up on the day, then you have the option to submit a win with the score 6-0, 6-0.
What happens at the end of each season?
At the end of each season, we will also organise a 'meetup and awards presentation' where everyone is invited to come along. We will provide food and drink, and the winners of each division will be presented with prizes.
